The Invisible are back with a new song called ‘Wings’ this is the first piece of new music from the Mercury Music Prize nominated band since 2009. I love the atmosphere this song creates and Dave’s voice in general it’s really soft and comforting something you maybe wouldn’t really expect from such a big guy which is always great. With the new album ‘Rispar’ out in June and with the band doing a host of festivals across the UK this year the band are truly back, which is great to hear.

A$AP Rocky - Goldie
After bringing you the Behind The Scenes, here is the final edit of the video. Rocky demonstrating his directing abilities with a larger budget over the Hit Boy produced anthem.
Long Live A$AP.
Here is The Vaccines doing their own version of Stevie More’s ‘Why Should I Love You’ for Record Store Day, unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the record on the day but nevertheless this is fine record from a great band who is going from strength to strength.

This is Seye (brother Metronomy’s bassist Gbenga) with his brand new single ‘White Noise’. This is indie-pop at it’s finest with it’s fresh sound, and with a strong melody and rhythm behind the song you can definitely see this being a popular song not only on radio but with music lovers alike.

Waiting in line for the Lauryn Hill gig I was discussing with my cousin what to actually expect from this particular gig. To some it may be a weird question to ask but this is Lauryn Hill not only is she a genius on the mic and a soul-touching singer but she is also an enigma. It’s been a while since her last performance especially in England and with private life over the last decade being something shrouded over mystery and much rumour I was fearing a show that would be less about the music but rather about controversy. Thankfully I was wrong with the crowd waiting just over 2 hours to see Lauryn by the time she came out the angst and frustration was replaced by jubilation and cheering. People knew that not were they going to see their hero but that they were going to experience a show that no-one could take away from them.
The show started off with the song ‘I get out’ from her MTV Unplugged album, Lauryn wearing a silver dress and rocking a short afro spiralled through all of her classic’s and surprisingly a few covers such as ‘Jammin’, ‘Rock My Boat’ and my personal favourite ‘Waiting In Vain’. You could genuinely see that she was enjoying the show despite the early sound issues she was experiencing during the show the admiration of the fans really played a strong part tot he tempo of the show, which in fairness maybe dampened the show for me a bit. I love moments in gigs where everyone is going crazy to their favourite songs, but I enjoy the silent moments a lot more. When I hear songs like ‘When It Hurts So Bad’ and especially ‘Ex-factor’ in it’s original format with the tempo slower it makes the song all the more touching and emotional and I think that element was missed in my personal opinion. Nevertheless It was an amazing gig my favourite part was towards the end of the gig when she played some of her Fugees classics which was a real surprise for me, the Fugees may never reform again so to hear her play ‘How Many Mics’, ‘Fu-Gee-La’, ‘Ready or Not’ and ‘Killing me Softly’ was a real treat.
On-stage is where Lauryn belongs music is in her, she naturally owned the stage changing from Lauryn Hill to J Boogie within the blink of an eye or charming the crowd with her accapella freestyle of her near almost wardrobe malfunction, ‘Too much baby, not enough breast, loosing my dress loosing my dress’. You can tell she was having more fun than the crowd which was nice to see. The question is what’s next for her, a new album? More Shows? She did hint at doing an unplugged show this time next year; whether or not this happens or not only time will tell, what I do know is that Lauryn Hill is back and believe me we’ve certainly missed her.

2PAC BACK!
Today, around the world, this has been one of the most talked about moments, when during a legendary Coachella set by Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, the (allegedly) $10million 2Pac hologram made a never to be forgotten appearance. Although the concept of holograms in music was previously introduced by the Gorillaz, this was a first for Hip-Hop.

In the space of only two days, the arguable incumbent of at the very top of hip-hop, Kanye West, dropped two new songs — I call that a G.O.O.D week!
A day after dropping the Hit-Boy produced “Theraflu” alongside DJ Khaled, Yeezy dropped a second single, this time with his G.O.O.D. Music companions on none other than Good Friday (well, Thursday night if we’re being obtuse about it all).
If I’m being honest I heard a bit of “Mercy” about 3 months ago, when the track was rumoured to have been entitled “Lamborghini, Murci” and one or two snippets found their way onto the ever reliable World Wide Web. Back then, it was rumoured that the song would feature verses from Big Sean, Pusha T & of course the Louis Vuitton Don, Kanye, himself. This official version, (which can now be bought on iTunes) however, features a (very good, I might add) verse from a man with as big a buzz in hip-hop as any other artist right now, 2 Chainz.
“Theraflu” was premiered by Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex the day before “Mercy” was premiered by Power 105.1’s DJ Clue. The two legendary DJs have been involved in quite the battle of words for a second time in recent years - this time over who was supposed to premier Nicki Minaj’s “Beez In The Trap,” (featuring, guess who, 2 Chainz). Clue may have got his own back on Flex with this one, as personally, “Mercy” is by far the better single of the two Kanye decided to drop this week.
Big Sean and Pusha T set things off, while Yeezy and 2 Chainz bring up the rear lyrically. For 2 Chainz, who recently signed to Def Jam Records, being featured on such a high-profile track has further validated his success of late.
A link to Def Jam’s soundcloud can be found above - listen for the vocal sampling from the late Fuzzy Jones, whose voice has hyped up many dancehall classics, at the start of the song, as well as a dramatic “Scarface” film sample before none other than Yeezy’s verse.
Lyrically, “Mercy” is verbal excellence, with all four artists delivering strong verses - but I’ll let you be the judge of that for yourselves.
Jeff.
As a lover of music I don’t really tend to focus on one particular band but more on a selection of bands but right now the American band Friends are definitely my favourite band right now. Their infectious and super-cool indie pop are really starting to get themselves noticed and deservedly so not only were they nominated for BBC ‘s Sound of 2012 but they were also NME’s top 50 bands of 2011. I really think that this indie five piece can go from strength to strength and maybe pave the way for a new wave of indie bands along with The Shining and Niki & The Dove to freshen up the Indie scene, here is Friends with ‘Friends Crush’

With London going through a mini heatwave (if you can call it that) this is one of the songs that I have been listening to over the last couple of days. To be fair this song has been knocking about for about a year now but it sounds just as fresh then as it does now, fusing an soulful vocal with an amazing electro soundscape this will definitely be one of my songs for the summer for this year and many summers to come. This is 2 Inch Punch with ‘Love You Up’.
